The Mystery of Jays Grave – Shire Horse Carriage Ride

Dartmoor by day is a beautiful place full of fascinating landscape, rocky tors and wild ponies. However by night areas of the Moor can become desolate and feel somewhat eerie at times.

See these amazing landmarks whilst you enjoy listening the legend of Bowermans nose and the mystery of Kitty Jay delivered by our great storeyteller!
Bowermans Nose – Old Folklore tales suggest that a tower made of granite stones were formed when a group of witches turned a local hunter named Bowerman to stone!
And the loose rocks found scattered around the base of Bowerman’s Nose were all that was left of his hunting dogs also cursed by witches.
Feel the power of our enormous Shire horses as they accelerate away from Bowermans Nose across the moor in the direction of the cross roads on the parish boundary. The story of Kitty Jay is told on this leg of the journey under the fading sunset and surrounded by the fascinating Dartmoor Scenery. It’s here where the story goes that the famous Kitty Jay was buried!
With fresh flowers left on Jays grave everyday by the unknown, this famous burial site on the Parish Boundary between Heatree Cross & Hound Tor many have experienced the unexplained.
